Seth Kovensky  is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERTM practitioner, insurance licensed, President of Live Oak Financial Services and an LPL Financial Advisor. In this role he assists families, individuals and businesses as they seek financial security and independence.

Frequently called upon to lend his leadership capabilities, Seth has been associated for many years with the Financial Planning Association and has served as a steering committee or board member for the Savannah chapters of Business Networking International, Navy League, and Savannah Ocean Exchange.

Seth is also in high demand for his expertise. He is a frequent guest speaker for Economics and Financial classes at local universities, and before the publication ceased in September 2011, Seth wrote nearly fifty articles on financial matters for the Coastal Senior Magazine.  Bonaventure Funeral Home also calls upon Seth to speak at their numerous End-of-Life Planning outreach programs, and over his career, Seth has written for or made presentations to organizations such as The Savannah Morning News, Savannah Magazine, WSAV News3, FOX28 News, WTKS AM1290, Jacksonville, FL Estate Planning Counsel, Savannah Enrolled Agent's Association, Richmond Hill Rotary and Savannah MegaGenesis. Residing in Savannah, GA Seth is married to the former Sarah R. Greenberg, and together they have two young children: Hannah and Alexander.

Growing up in Columbia, Maryland, Seth now considers himself a ‘converted Southerner.’  Fresh out of high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where he spent seventeen months in a row deployed to the Persian Gulf and Far East. Committed to earn a college degree, Seth worked his way up from the very bottom of the enlisted ranks (E-1) - earned a coveted slot at the United States Naval Academy Prepatory School - then was accepted into the U.S. Naval Academy's class of 1993, where he graduated with a BS degree in naval architecture. He promply joined the surface fleet, then five years later, while assigned to a Navy ROTC instructor, Seth began two years of evening classes at Georgia Southern University enroute to an MBA.

When it comes to financial planning, Seth’s first seeds were planted in 1994, as he was assigned the role of Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society (NMCRS) Officer for the destroyer on which he was assigned.  A private, non-profit, volunteer service organization founded in 1904, the mission of NMCRS is – in part – to provide financial, educational and other assistance to members of the Naval Services of the United States… and to receive and manage funds to administer these programs. In this capacity, Seth counseled active-duty service members on  their emergency financial matters - after which he determined, and disbursed if necessary, emergency loans or grants.

In 1998, Seth’s financial planning seeds continued to grow as he transitioned from the navy to an Advisor and Registered Principal for a large, international financial planning firm.  Having seen first-hand what positive significance successful – and implemented - financial plans had on individuals and families, Seth strived as a financial advisor to create open and honest environments where high-trust relationships could thrive.  By listening to his clients Seth assisted them in taking action on effective solutions for multiple and complex financial issues.  This client-centered, relationship-driven approach likely helped Seth have significant success with his practice, and he proceeded to achieve accolades such as Rookie of the Year (1999 Southeast region) and Field Client Representative of the Year (2006 Eastern hemisphere).  Seth was also rarely out of the top 10% of Advisors company-wide (2002-2006) and for many years was a company leader in long-term-care insurance and ‘wrap’ (managed portfolios) programs1.  He recruited and trained young advisors, assisted with special Corporate projects, was quickly promoted through the ranks, and served as the liaison between his regions’ Field Force and the Home Office executive committee.

Seth’s financial planning seeds matured into Live Oak Financial Services, LLC in 2006.  Fully committed to helping clients achieve success, Live Oak Financial Services maintains one focus: Putting client interests first.  Live Oak Financial Services is fiercely independent, thus is not required to follow agendas of large wire-houses, banks, or insurance companies.
